During the months of May, June and July, there were a number of interceptions of illegal fishing operations in the Galapagos National Park Marine Reserve

The vessels arrested for illegal fishing were:

1. The Kendy registered in Costa Rica 
2. The Ancon registered in Ecuador 
3. The Shamroc registered in Costa Rica 
4. The Goliat registered in Costa Rica 
5. The Trump registered in Costa Rica 
6. The Gaviota registered in Ecuador 
7. The Martha registered in Ecuador 

In addition three large tuna seiners were caught fishing illegally in the Marine Reserve. They were:

1. The Yolanda L registered in Ecuador 
2. The 74.6 meter Milagros A registered in Ecuador (Helicopter on board) 
3. The 77.4 meter Danielle D registered in Panama (Helicopter on Board) 

Of these arrests the three that were intercepted by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society ship Farley Mowat were:

1. The Kendy (Intercepted south of Wolf Island) 
2. The Ancon (Intercepted at Darwin Island) 
3. The Yolanda L (Intercepted west of Isabela Island) 

The Kendy and the Ancon were taken into custody by the Sea Shepherd patrol vessel Sirenian and escorted to Baltra for legal procedures.

These successes were made possible by the generosity of people who contribute to Sea Shepherd in support of our work and that of the National Park Rangers in the Galapagos. They supported Sea Shepherd and Captain Watson when he put forth the following passionate request, "Please join me in taking a stand and drawing a line in the sand against greed and corruption, and for the defense, protection and conservation of the fascinating creatures of the Galapagos marine reserve." He now adds, "We have had some good successes in these arrests, however, we must not rest as there is much more work to be done."
