Captain Paul Watson Offers $5,000 for the Release of Captive Dolphin
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society Founder and President Paul Watson has offered to personally pay a reward of $5,000 USD for the release of one dolphin currently being held in lone captivity under worrisome conditions at Dolphin Base Resort in Taiji, Japan.
“I have requested our Cove Guardians to approach the person(s) responsible for holding this dolphin in a small pool overgrown with algae in Taiji to turn the dolphin over to the Cove Guardians to be cared for and released back into the wild. In return, I will personally give this person(s) $5,000 USD as compensation for their consideration of this dolphin’s life.”
Misty the dolphin was first captured on video by Sea Shepherd’s Cove Guardians during a recent visit to Dolphin Base. Unless promptly removed into protection and care from the unsanitary, confined pool where it is being currently held, the dolphin will most likely continue to suffer alone and eventually die.
For more information, please visit Cove Guardians and read their daily reports documenting the dolphin slaughter and recent discovery of Misty or the CNN iReport.
