Captain Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd director Richard Dean Anderson held a media conference in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on March 7th. They spoke about their visit to the harp seal nursery the previous day where Richard Dean Anderson did a celebrity photo shoot with the seals.

Richard Dean Anderson is most well-known for his acting roles on MacGyver and Stargate SG-1.  For more information about Richard, please visit the Sea Shepherd Board of Directors page.

Captain Paul Watson and Richard Dean Anderson announced the International Day of Protest on March 15th at Canadian Consulates in over 40 nations and they expressed their support for an international boycott of all Canadian seafood products until the seal hunt is shut down.

Richard Dean Anderson returned to Los Angeles on the 8th while Captain Paul Watson, Peter Brown, and Allison Lance Watson left Charlottetown to rejoin the ship.

The Sea Shepherd ship Farley Mowat is presently in Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland. A small hole about the size of a dime was found on the bottom of the ship. It is an unusual breach as it was not caused by the ice floes. The hole has been plugged with a temporary patch and the inflow of water has been stopped. The ship will need to be dry docked for a permanent repair before proceeding again into the ice.

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society intends to remain in the area of the seal hunt into April to oppose the opening of the annual slaughter of seals. Canada plans to massacre over 350,000 seals within the next month.
