Sea Shepherd calls on Malcolm Turnbull to represent the interests of the people of Australia, not the Japanese whalers

Photo: Tim Waters"In Opposition, the Liberal government promised to send a vessel to monitor Japanese whaling in the Southern Ocean. Trade cannot be used as an excuse for not sending a vessel. This is not about trade, this is about the law. Japanese whaling is in contempt of the Australian Federal Court and found to be illegal by the highest international court, the International Court of Justice," said Jeff Hansen, Managing Director Sea Shepherd Australia.
"The people of Australia want to see an end to whaling in the Southern Ocean. Sea Shepherd is calling on Malcolm Turnbull to represent the interests of the people of Australia, and not the interests of the Japanese whalers. The whaler's harpoons are primed and on their way south to resume their bloody slaughter of protected whales. Anything less than sending a vessel would be aiding and abetting a crime about to take place in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary," concluded Mr Hansen.
