Sea Shepherd Global Office and Store Opening is Huge Success

On Friday October 17th Sea Shepherd opened our first ever Store in the heart of Amsterdam. The landmark event was hosted by Sea Shepherd Global, the coordinating-entity directing all Sea Shepherd funds towards our worldwide missions. The Sea Shepherd Store aims to spread awareness about ocean conservation while at the same time raising funds for our global campaigns through merchandise sales.
The new Sea Shepherd Global Head Office and Merchandise StoreBefore a packed house, Captain Alex Cornelissen, Sea Shepherd’s CEO, opened the event, followed by a video message of Dutch Postcode Lottery ambassador Martijn Krabbe and a live Skype conversation with Sea Shepherd founder Captain Paul Watson. Captain Watson’s words were met with cheer and applause and everyone was happy he could share the momentous occasion.
Guest of honor, long-time celebrity supporter Rutger Hauer was kind enough to officially inaugurate the Store. In good pirate tradition we toasted with rum, kindly donated by Tres Hombres. Attendees dined on ocean-friendly vegan fare and cake.
Our large range includes rare and unique Sea Shepherd items, as well as stocking merchandise from Hemp Hoodlamb and G-star’s “Raw for the Oceans” collection. The space also acts as an information centre and small gallery, with artifacts from Sea Shepherd’s rich history protecting biodiversity and defending our oceans.
The Sea Shepherd Store is open from Tuesdays through Saturdays. All sales profits go towards Sea Shepherd’s mission to safe Marine Wildlife worldwide.
